Carbonara
Carbonara is a classic Italian pasta dish that is a favourite for many. It is a simple dish that is creamy and comforting, yet still full of flavour. It is made with spaghetti, Richmond Meat-Free Streak Bacon, vegan double cream, vegan parmesan cheese, black pepper. Our Meat-Free recipe is a dish that is easy to make and is sure to please everyone. It is an excellent comfort food that is sure to satisfy any pasta-lover!
Cooking Instructions
Bring a large pan of salted water to the boil and cook the spaghetti for 10-12 minutes.
Meanwhile heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over a medium heat and cook the meat-free bacon pieces for 5-10 minutes, turning occasionally until crisp and golden.
Drain the spaghetti, reserving a cupful of the cooking water then return the pasta to the pan and pour in the double cream. Set over a low heat add in most of the parmesan and cook gently until melted – add a little of the pasta water if the sauce becomes too thick.
Remove from the heat and stir in the meat-free bacon pieces.
Divide the carbonara between 4 dishes and top with the chopped parsley, a grinding of black pepper and the remaining parmesan.
